A pioneer in the research, study and application of laser technology for arthroscopic procedures, Dr. Alfred O. Bonati is the Chairman and Chief Orthopaedic Surgeon at The Bonati Institute. He is responsible for the development of The Bonati Procedures which use lasers for treatment on the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine, which have helped thousands of sufferers of failed open-back surgeries improve their quality of life.

Dr. Bonati's Procedures for lumbar, cervical and thoracic spine, knee, shoulder, and carpal tunnel laser arthroscopy can result in pain relief for nearly all patients. The less intrusive nature of the surgery results in little blood loss, little trauma to muscle, a small dressing to close the tiny wound, and a rapid post-operative recovery period.

After completing his final residency in orthopedic surgery in 1981, Dr. Bonati founded the Gulf Coast Orthopaedic Center (G.C.O.C.) for Special Arthroscopic Procedures of the Joints. By 1989, the author of the book, No More Back Pain, began teaching and discussing his work at scientific gatherings around the world.
